Diagnostic ultrasound has been used for over 50 years and there is no evidence, to date, that it has produced any harm to patients. The safety of ultrasound in medicine is being continually researched.
Sonogray is proud of its commitment to adhere to the Code of Conduct and Ethics set out by the Society of the College of Radiographers. Sonogray also follows the key principles for the safe use of ultrasound documented by The British Medical Ultrasound Society. Our sonographers will continually ensure that the minimum ultrasound exposure levels are strictly adhered to and that the policy of 'no direct scanning time beyond published guidelines' is followed. All of Sonograys 3&4 d imaging will be provided as a souvenir following one of our private antenatal reassurance scans.
Our state of the art GE Voluson E10 & E8 ultrasound consoles have been regularly serviced and checked to ensure safety is paramount. Ultrasound works by using high frequency sound waves to produce images. The sound waves are reflected off of internal structures and picked up by the ultrasound probe. This information is then converted by the machine into the image you see on the monitor. The gel is necessary for this to happen as the ultrasound cannot pass through air.
All sonographers undertaking scans will be NMC or HCPC registered and will have a post graduate qualification in ultrasound. Our consultants are experts in their field and undertake rigorous governance to earn practicing privileges. Our staff are proud to offer neurodiversity affirming care and can adapt to the needs of those who occupy marginalised identities.
Our sonographers are supported in regularly undertaking training to enhance their continuing professional development.
Sonogray and its service providers operate within a framework of clinical governance.
Please reach us at: info@sonogray.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You can book your scan online or via telephone with reception. If you are needing to cancel or amend a booking please contact reception to discuss and they will do their best to help you with this.

Occasionally we will recommend a transvaginal ultrasound scan. The sonographer will talk you through the process so you can decide if you wish to go ahead with the procedure. Please advise us prior to scan of any latex allergies.
